Poem Commentary

"A poem is thought of concern. It is the light in a dream, that you need to learn the purpose we are searching for. Even if a poem does not compare to you, if written correctly, it will touch your heart in a way that will never be forgotten" -JTMH

"Broken Hearted Memories"

While serving our nation
forever to change
though never to falter
while bearing such pain

The smallest of scars
will bind every fear
with care and devotion
our memorable tears

Now that the lives
these soldiers brought home
their hearts ever broken
and memories will show

Bearing the agony
from injuries passed by
will never compare
to the tears we have cried

The smallest of scars
trigger memories of loss
for soldiers that died
and have broken our hearts.

Does it matter? Carrying a permanent emotional scar for the rest of your life, while mourning the death of your brothers and sisters of war, does not require a name or title of a home country. Someday, our world will live together as one. -JTMH

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
