Poem Commentary

for ducky

Cajun Man

Cajun man
Louisiana clan
stops a while
to make you smile
gives a damn
and calls you ma'am
stealing hearts
like candy tarts
the angels know
they won't let go
his lamp will burn
till his return.
by him we stand
our Cajun man.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
