For Chris

Thinking back in my mind,
you know boy, there was a time
when I was your shoulder.
But now that you're older
you really don't need me
and that's ok, I see,
it's just a natural thing
but you've left me hanging
it so happens I miss you
the talking that we'd do
and now that you've left home
we just talk on the telephone
you are busy with your friends
I guess everything does end,
I'm glad you are thriving
and I'll keep on striving
to keep that connection
and hope your affection
for me will continue
cause baby, I love you.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
