    Children

    This day and age,
    No children play
    They grow to fast
    To enjoy their days
    Schooling and studying
    Replace childhood memories

    Who has the right
    Who has the authority
    To take the years
    Most precious to us

    You provide reason
    And excuse
    Time and time again
    But what excuse is there
To steal the lives of children?

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
