    Earth

    The willows whisper
    The grass shudders
    The sun smiles
    The water laughs
As a pebble jumps across it.

But how much longer will this last?
The willows exhale their last breaths
The grass bows its head and but never finishes its prayer
The sun hides behind the thickening smog
The water gets sick and turns forever green
Never again will the pebble be disturbed.
For there is no one to disturb it.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
