Poem Commentary

We don't always hear what is really being said when the one we love has hurt us. The meaning stalls and twists like being suspended in stone. We need to remember that even stone can soak up whats around it. Bust the stone and retrieve what awaits of the real love between you.

Misunderstanding is a creation of

partial listening through solid stone.

But the stone is porous, and the swirl of a hearts

echo seeps In each hole that hides from sight.

You cannot escape nor ignore the

Sounds sought by instinct inside the

hungry heart.

That heart hears only what it is feeling,

Now.

Whisper or scream, They are the same

to the touch of raw emotion.

Let me walk atop the rock.

Then, Remove the numbness from my

Fingertips.

So what passion remains will not Wither.

Please repeat for me. . . for us,

that which stalled between the pores.

Until the stone between us crumbles,

do this.

Feed the starving soul of the

One who loves you.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
