    Poem Commentary

    This song - poem was written by me in mid 1995 upon learning that the only daughter of a close  friend had been raped and murdered in her bedroom while her father worked on the night shift at Kodak. This happened in 1995 and of course the family has been broken. I lost touch with Don, her father, quite a few years ago. He moved to another state a little while after this happened. It has been a while since I cried for her and this family she came from - and why I had to write this as a  poem which I made into a song. I did this song in public at a memorial for Danielle from her school and town folk who came to pay their final respects. It is now years since this happened and had receded from the forefront of my mind. But - I still remember you sweet Danielle and always will. Kallen

    Danielle/Dancing

     Dancing on the breeze,
    while you watched a heart at ease;
    She was pretty as you please,
    Yes Love birngs you to your knees;
    Danielle


    Who can tell us - now
    When she's broken on the plow
    Can Joy replace somehow,
    Earth's claim upon the brow of
    Danielle


    Oh, won't you tell me
    My heart is broken in two;
    Though her spirit is now free,
    I still miss her - don't you?


    In my heart I wish you peace
    May the wars of your heart cease,
    Find comfort in your tears please,
    Yes, Love brings you to your knees

    Just beautiful, Kallen. I read the intro you wrote, and my heart just sank.....you have given her something beautiful with this, and I just love the line, "May the wars of your heart cease", this is good advice for all of us.....you have made a thing of beauty from a great tragedy, which is what happens when Spirit works through you. Thank you for sharing this....
