Duped?

    Duped?

    You say you love me.

I’m not so sure I believe you.

My life with you saddened me deeply.

How do I know your words are true?

    I want to believe,

But many times I was deceived.

So now you’ve experienced some hard knocks,

    And maybe changed your thoughts.

    Here I am bewildered,

Wondering what it is you want.

I’m protective cuz I’ve been hurt,

And be hurt again I shall not.

    Don’t make the mistake

    Of thinking I trust you,

    Without a second take,

Once more I’d be a dupe.
