    ending II

    a second ending
    some hope?
have you come to an epiphany?
    i cannot continue
to be the moth to your flame
yet i have no choice in the matter

    i must let go
it’s the hardest thing i’ve ever done
    yet i cannot bind you
    i cannot fix you
    i can only offer comfort

    my resolve melts
    upon your summons
    yet release you i must
it’s the best for both of us

we can no longer live the lie
    i cannot continue to abet
    the dishonesty
i will not keep my love hidden

    so must let it go

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
