Everyday Hero
Another day outside the wireAnother day on the job
Another day of impending danger
Just another typical day...
His gate easy and unburdoned
despite the heat and weight
Projectiles everywhere
Thirsty for blood
And whispering death to all whom they meet
Suddenly his easy gait turns to a run
of it's own accord
Driving him onward
Into the cloud of pain
He soon finds himself
The cloud in which the rain has gathered
And he precipitates unto the sand
Yet he does not slow for the weather...
His breathing becomes ragged
Hands quivering
And an utterance of assurance escapes his lips
One less will walk through that guard tower today
But rest easy
He chose to walk this path
And his family will recieve a token
A polished peice of silver
on a pretty peice of fabric
The mark of what was an everyday hero
