Winter Rose
A solitary blotch of colorA bland expanse of snow
Despite Winter's fury
There grows a single rose
A single sight of beauty
In dreariness so vast
A reminder of the cheerfulness
In better seasons passed
A fierce and fearless champion
Of the impossible fight
Yet remains a blossom
Within this plane of white
A mournful gleam of red
As Winter's pale light fades
And brings a silver moon
Casting shades of grey
Soon, though, Spring shall come
And your petals will brown,
Fall, and die but still
Your memory lingers round
Grow strong bloody blossom, dear
Impossible as it seems
And bloom within that snowy feild
And live, then, in my dreams
