expectation

    expectation

When do the birds stop singing and the shadows approach

    Because I’ve been waiting

And the nightmares do not return under your watchful gaze

Yet the feelings of fear never subside

    And my expectations are crushed

Under the weight of your perfect protection

    My question is:

Do I want to feel pain

Or am I just needing the attention I receive

    When fear takes over

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
