    Falling Tears

I hide in my room, sitting on my bed staring out the window,
I look at nothing in particular, but just stare into space,
I hate to think I've fallen for a guy...
Who doesn't plan to catch me,
As I'm sitting there I feel a very rare wetness,
I touch my cheek, bring my fingers back...
There I see a big round tear
I realize that in my eyes are falling tears.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
