fisher of men
If I should fly this earth tonightsomewhere between two sleeps
to the beating of a rythm
in the cadence my heart keeps
My heart will keep its measure
to the faucets dripping seam
that leaks my mind to other worlds
and begs my soul to dream
I dream I fish for souls of men
seawater drops the looking glass
my ship is coming on the tide
I pray this vessel be my last
The souls of men shall be my treasure
of which I'd fill the cargoes hull
for nothing fills my heart with pleasure like fishing for men's souls
This night I dream and ponder fortune
how its fickle with its kiss
how my life I've spent soul searching
but on this night I soul fish
Nets near empty cast after cast
whats a fisher of men to do
finer nets than these I'll need
lest my catch keep passing through
Finer nets I know take time
but times no cost to me its true
and while I'm pleased with bigger fish
its the schools that pass my nets I rue
One sole fish of mine thats missed
and not brought home to shore
that one marks the whole catch tossed
I'd have them all, no less, no more
My dream this nights an old one
outside crystal city's walls
each interval between two drips
eternal, Ah! but then it falls
I recall the vision once again
my ship a coming on the tide
this vessel such a beauty, Yes!
how could I turn down such a ride
I slumber on, and on I fish
as the dripping cuts the seam
which rips a hole into dimensions
through crystal city's broken dreams
With every tapping little splatter
seawater drops the looking glass
through which I see now all that matters
beyond these crystal walls at last
So if I fly this world tonight
somewhere between two sleeps
while drifting into darkness
to the cadence my heart keeps
The cadence paces to the rythm
in a faucet's broken seam
to leak my spirit from this vessel
and free my soul that beams
Through shards of crystal light shines down
seawater drops the looking glass
and bending through new life I've found
a rainbow high above the mast.
