Like dreams spinning out your broken promises
I can still hear your laughter
As you put each ring on my hand
Promising forever, forever, three times forever
You convinced my beyond doubt
But in a flash forever came and went

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
