    Gift of the Morning

I love to wake up to the freshness of the morning.
The fresh air and the dew upon the ground.
Looking up at the beautiful sunrise.
You see the green grass, with the awakening of fresh
    flowers and their aroma.
The birds are singing a lovely melody.
The squirrels are running up and down the trees
    playing like little children.
As the wind blows you can hear the rustling of the leaves,
as the trees sway back and forth.
As you ponder on the beauty of such wonder.
You begin to think of the creator.
Here you behold the greatest man of all.
You can stand and feel his majestic touch on the earth.
Such warmth and beauty, peacful and sereen.

sweetcottontop, I've always been one for meter and rhyme...however, you paint a very lovely picture! I can sooo imagine sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee and soaking in all the sounds and beauty of the trees and the happily playing squirrels. I would be interested in an exerpt of the book you are writing. I bet you do extremely well! Thank-you for the lovely morning. :)

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
