    Gone

The moon casts its shadow on a sleepless night.
A boy sits in silence, alone, and unheard
A memory of days warm and bright
When he with all of nature conferred
Now moon and sun are gone
He is displaced but looking on
    Away from that dreary world
And into the moon’s milky pearl
He slips away behind the cloudless night
And disappears with the morning’s light
