    Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem out of experience. My mother and I never got along. So when Mother's day came around, I wanted that day to be special for her. I wrote her this poem and she cried. After this day, her and I been getting along. I think in this poem, it told her how I really feel. There's no other way to explain things, unless it's written on paper.

    Happy Mother's Day

Without a mother is like something valuable you have lost.
Remembering the times, a road I would not cross.

Waking up from a nightmare, a horrible thing in life.
I turn to the left, I turn to the right, when I do, I see you by my side.

Without a mother is love with no warmth.
Forget the arguments, and further more.

Trapped in the night, before bed. You told me to go to sleep, so I did.
Without a whisper and nothing said. Mommy did you forget to say "I love you my kid?"

Without a mother must be hard.
You wouldn't have anybody to talk to, or send a mother's day card.

I am very grateful to have a mother like you.
Because without you, nothing would be new.

A mother like you is a dream come true.
Happy Mother's Day, and I love you!!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
