Her Story
as she sits there wondering
her thoughts no one can see
but the look in her eyes tell
something is not as it should be
you can tell she fights a sadness
deep down in her soul
the lines around her eyes
shows sadness taking its toll
she holds so much inside
not letting anybody near
holding onto the pain
forgetting, is that her fear
no one knows her story
never ventures to ask
about the sadness in her eyes
it just isn't their task
but i feel compelled
by that sadness in her eyes
daring to venture forth
daring to ask why
she tells me a story
the loss of a love so great
the pain that never ends
over losing her soul mate
how she chose to be alone
never to love again
waiting until the time
to once again be with him
as she finished her story
she slowly closed her eyes
for the life of me
i couldn't figure why
then a smile crossed her face
and i knew in my mind
with the burden of her story told
she left this world behind
the smile that she left
on the face that held no life
was a smile for the husband
who came to get his wife
her thoughts no one can see
but the look in her eyes tell
something is not as it should be
you can tell she fights a sadness
deep down in her soul
the lines around her eyes
shows sadness taking its toll
she holds so much inside
not letting anybody near
holding onto the pain
forgetting, is that her fear
no one knows her story
never ventures to ask
about the sadness in her eyes
it just isn't their task
but i feel compelled
by that sadness in her eyes
daring to venture forth
daring to ask why
she tells me a story
the loss of a love so great
the pain that never ends
over losing her soul mate
how she chose to be alone
never to love again
waiting until the time
to once again be with him
as she finished her story
she slowly closed her eyes
for the life of me
i couldn't figure why
then a smile crossed her face
and i knew in my mind
with the burden of her story told
