    Poem Commentary

this poem is in memory of my mother Linda Kay Prince 4/19/1958 - 1/03/2006 RIP.

    I miss you dearly

    I miss you dearly.
I wake up and hope to see your face.

when i walk out to the smell of coffee i hope to see your face.

    I miss you dearly.

the sound of your voice still rings in my ears. the smell of you after you just got out of the shower still lingers in your room. i open the door and see an empty room, but yet a minute ago i could have swore i heard you laughing.

    I miss you dearly.

as i sit here now i look back on all our memories and remember the smell,
the sound and, the touch of your hair, your voice and, your motherly touch.
    and i remember why
    i miss you dearly.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
