Immaculate By: Danielle Nicholas

You are immaculate but what am I
standing beside you, taking more and more of my shine away, I am jealous
I've been called wonderful, I've been called exciting, but I've never been called immaculate like you, My envy tears me apart, can we be friends when I feel this way? you may think so, but I cannot say
oh intellectual are you, the light of the public's eye
so immaculate, but why tell me why?
why not me to be like you? I could take all the praise, Immaculately expected to catch the eyes of all beholders
Like I've said, I've been called extravagant and a leader amongst my peers
but, I've never been called immaculate like you
Can we be friends when I feel this way
You may think so, but I cannot say.

who on earth could be immaculate . thats like saying godly perfect . we are all uniquely different and that makes for an interesting world - all you can be is your self . people can accept that or not - you sound nice - why change ?

Thank you for your comment but u must understand, I write based on ideas and perceptions of others, not just myself. I put myself in other's shoes to imagine how would feel, so that I can expand and write about anything. This poem is not personally about me, it's about anyone, who might feel this way. Noone is perfect and my poems are reality!!

I appreciate your comment but I really do try to be diverse in my poetry. Not exactly saying that someone out there is perfect but I try to imagine all perceptions and degrees of fantasy to make my poems fantasy and reality.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
