    Lonely

    Lets see what’s new inside,

this lonely old man that’s known to hide.

feel the shiver's and the quake

a bruised up heart that’s full of ache.

tempted once more to a world that’s lost

feeling so empty now that all is lost.

follow my shadow to a world unknown

follow my life to see what’s below

the simple truth that hides beneath.

a disfigured man that I’ve come to bequeath

so now I come to a close

and begin once again to tell you I’m lonely my friend

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
