Lost

The distance has taken a toll;
My heart is weeping.
My body is limp and wilting,
I cry out for you, "Help, come to me...,"
But I hear no answer.
There is no reply in this wilderness I have come to call home.
All of my life you have been with me.
You have heard my cries and come in my darkest hours.
Why am I so alone, enveloped in infinite darkness?
I am blind.
Please show me your love.
Let your mercy sink over me and save me,
Let your light shine through the darkness
Until I am blinded by your grace.
I long for you.
I feel so alone.
Father, Hear my cries;
Wrap your healing arms around me.
I need you.
I see your lampposts lighting the way,
But I cannout make out the path.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
