Poem Commentary

Gastronomical visitations.

Maybe

Maybe it's an illusion
And there's really nothing there;
Yes, just a mild delusion
But so help me, I could swear
Each night I'm not alone.

Maybe it's from viewing
All too many horror flicks;
Yet bedtime finds me stewing
'Bout the scene my mind depicts;
Each time I hear that moan.

Maybe deprivation's
All I'm really going through;
Your basic visitations
By a ghost that's haunting you,
End up as silly dreams.

Maybe I'd dismiss it
As another sleepless night;
Yet one could hardly miss it
Bellow out in mad delight,
Eliciting my screams.

Maybe what I'm hearing
At this hour within my room;
Yelling close by, ever nearing,
Bears a harbinger of doom;
Emerging from this hell.

Maybe, but come morning
All is well, I can relax;
Yesterday was just a warning:
Bean-o cancels these attacks;
Even stops the deadly smell.

Hmm..haven't seen a Acrostic poem in a while..the rules are not rigid with this type if poetry (I think). All the lines in this poem relate to or describe the main topic word..'Maybe'..good job R J Gardner :-)

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
