Military Dream: Will I Come Home Alright?

    The cross hairs tangle,
    My vision, a blur,
    The gunfire thunders,
But my thoughts spread to her.

    Erupting around me,
    This building dissolves.
    The bullets explode,
    As my concentration evolves.

    I grab two grenades,
    And tear out the pins,
    Hurl them over my shoulder,
    As my head quickly spins

    A deafening 'Roar',
Makes me ask why I'm here.
I could be hugging her tightly,
Instead, I'm in the death grip of fear.

I pray that I'll see her,
    One last time to say,
"I've loved you since day one.
    Will until the last day"

    My heart almost bursts
When I get to my feet.
    Because whistling bullets,
    were searching for meat.

    I jump for my cover,
    Afraid for my life.
    Her voice in my head,
Makes my grab for my knife.

And then it all hits me,
    I need to live.
    Nothing will stop me,
    Nothing will give.

I just need to see you
    You're all that I've got.
If I get home alive for an instant,
I will know why I've fought.

wow! wow! wow! This is awesome. Why haven't you email people to read this? It worthy of what people could read.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
