Mother Ocean

Mother Ocean

Waves of blue and froth
Kissing the shore like a long lost lover
Hiding within your belly treasures of long ago ships and stories untold
Cold and uncalculated swells overwhelm those who do not belong
Making a watery grave for trespassers and innocent alike

Giving birth to natures most beautiful creatures of the depth
Concealing legendary links of land dwellers for eternity
So many times looked upon with reverence and admiration
Only to have the admirer betray

Beaches of white and vigor
Clash with a mother of all nature
Mother Ocean

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
