My Heartsblood

My Heartsblood

Like the dew is to the grass on a summer morning, you are my drink from the cup of life

When the sunset greets my face with a warm and gentle smile, you are at my side

Touching my hand gently and feeling a sensation as soft as a spider's web

I feel the aura from your heart and it is a compliment to the embrace of your kiss

Your lips are but an entrance to your soul that I grasp and hold on to it for dear life everyday

The eyes of an angel so pure and blue meet my hazel with a twinkle of compassion and happiness

All the sensations come together as one when I hold you in my arms and hear your heart flutter against mine

The love we share is eternal and I see now why life is such a precious gift for it is indeed the present

Raven, you have a wonderful poetic combination of phrase... but it tends to be poetically prosaic.. the feeling is there, but not the rhythm... "When the sunset greets my face with a warm and gentle smile"... "soft as a spider's web"... "aura from your heart"... beautiful. Do you mean "compliment" or "complement"... both fit, but... byjax

Thanks so much Alley for your comments. You are a wonderful girl and a talented poet. Keep up the good work yourself! I just put a new poem on my profile tonight entitled "Poof". If you want, take a look and see what you think. Take care. :-)

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
