    My Friend

    MY FRIEND

Sometimes our friends abandon, forget, or move away,
And we’re left alone and hurting, wishing they would always stay.
Sometimes our friends are callous, and don’t even seem to care,
And are not around to listen to the sorrows that we share.
But there'’s one Friend who is always close at hand and by our side.
Who can hear our pain and sorrow and who knows the tears we'’ve cried.
This Friend will never leave us, show contempt or turn away,
When our sinful lives o’ercome us and we know we’'ve lost our way.
This Friend will hear our pleading for relief from sorrow’s load,
And, with loving arms, reach out and guide us back to the right road.
You, friend, bear the image, bear the kindness of this Friend.
I feel, when in your presence, God'’s dear love is close at hand.
For you, my friend, are part of God'’s great plan for my own life.
You are always here to listen and help bear the pain and strife.
I know each time I see you, you are part of God'’s planned Grace.
In you, I feel God’'s presence, and see God’'s image in your face.
With love, I give thanks daily for the friends God’'s granted me
When I remember all God'’s goodness you, my friend, are whom I see.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
