My Glass Heart

My Glass Heart

I handed you my heart carefully yet willingly

Made of fragile blown glass

It glimmered and shot prisms of color as it danced in the light,

As you took it from my hands, it fluttered in joy.

In time you began to pretend to drop it,

Or to crush it in your hands to taunt me

Watched as tears crawled down my face

So you could laugh and walk away.

Yet my heart still sparingly beat

It pulsed with the essence of who I was.

Slowly, but I remained alive some how…

In hopes that I'd feel the old steady beat again.

In time taunts were not enough to staunch my spirit

You caged my heart and shackled it

I sat and watched as the colored prisms paled, I was too weak to care.

And yet, I had hope.

The day came when you released it from its binds

Crashed it to the floor

Tiny shards of glass and tears were all that were left

You swept up the pieces, boxed it up into an old box and left me holding it.

I knelt upon the cold floor and lifted the lid

Gazed carefully through haunted eyes upon my shattered heart

I poured the bits onto the floor

And saw a sparkle of light.

I carefully pieced together every shard

Painstakingly and lovingly I did my best to mend it

I knew it was still alive

It was my glass heart and I alone could save it

My heart beats once again with proud and lusty beats

Radiant color glows in the night and pulsates

To my own rhythm of my own life

Dancing in laughter and joy.

Owe how it has spoken to me tears a fear most men have but the true meaning of what is a man's surrender. A williness of abandonement of all rational thought, finding a receptive heart. This has been the 1st thing I have done this morning and let it be known my heart has been soaken to and my mind has listened. Owe and soaken my way of thanks......holding hands too my hands extending out to yours.

Hello Jo this is really COURAGEOUS=i love that part where only you can save it. you can also check on ma new piece JO"cant love this life but i wont die among others "

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
