Sea Sonnet

Sea Sonnet

I

The sea seduces me like a lover ever changing,

At times gentle, slow and steady rolling

Glassy as eyes that seek mine in furtive want

Aching to find its ebb and tide

That undulates beneath silent currents that whisper beneath.

Rising waves slowly garner for the last surge before finally releasing

Foaming shimmering crests like gentle licks as it rushes to the shore.

II

A temptress, roiling in fury, unbridled and dominating

Frothing waves swelling in monstrous valleys and endless peaks,

A fathomless depth that ever churns in a wake that knows no bounds,

Encompassing in majesty everything that hinders its desire

With calculated swiftness it rushes toward what it yearns

Holding captive the essence of its very existence,

Until it unleashes what it has owned in a torrential gush toward its shore.

Hey JoJo, It's beautiful...I'm an old sailor and love the comparison of the sea to a woman...really like the like line "glassy as eyes that seek mine in furtive want"....very sexy poem...nice work! Jerry

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
