    My Knew Life

He did me a favor, when he walked away.
No more pain, or a price to pay.
The black eye is fading the bruises are gone,
I've went through misery for way to long.
He'd call me names, and I'd start to cry
    then I'd hear another lie.
He'd dry my eyes and promise no more,
begging me not to walk out the door.
As my kids looked on their pain so clear,
I'd say to them your precious and dear.
Come my child hold my hand,
We'll get away from this wicked man.
They'd look at me with happiness and grace,
I'd see a smile upon their face.
This went on for years I know,
until I told him he had to go.
Now my life is happier today,
I no longer have a role to play.

Good for you, Vicky. So glad you finally stood up to him and got the courage to walk away. The message of this poem is powerful and necessary for all abuse victims to hear and take strength from.

A well written verse about a delicate, personal and painful subject. Well done

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
