MY PATIENCE

MY PATIENCE

MY PATIENCE

Sitting back and thinking about,

What I desire and hope for.

I wish it was today, even now

That this desire came true now.

Tangible and visible,

Right in the middle of my palm

Waiting has tested my faith.

Squeezed out my patient,

And brought forth an idea,

In fact, an escape road,

From this unending God’s road

To my desire and dreams.

I’m tired of waiting

Lord fill my patient to the brim again

I’m running out of it.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
