    My youngest pride

My youngest pride, my youngest pride
You hide your feelings, I don't know why
We've argued so much through the years
Some through anger and some through tears
But I don’t want you to run or hide
My youngest pride, my youngest pride

Sister, I tell you, you're a piece of work
You put me through hell and sometimes it hurt
But you played your part; it was a tough ride
My youngest pride, my youngest pride

You are very smart and I always said it
You're a beautiful person and don’t you forget it
Always playing "mommy" for other people’s children
So they’d forget about the hardships they live in

Taking them out and doing more and more
We’d always ask, “what you did it for?”
But your heart said enough and I stick by your side
My youngest pride, my youngest pride

Girl, I had my times when I didn’t believe
If you believed in yourself or if you believed in me
You are so much more then you bargained for
I urge you to walk through a special door

A door meant for you and only you
That would allow you to do what you were born to do
And if you are lost I will hold out my hand
To pull you up and show you, you can

I’ll lift up my voice and sing to you
And tell you, my sister, I love you
To tell you that I’m sorry if I hurt you before
To tell you, through love, there’s so much in store

To tell you I always knew you could make it
That you probably didn’t understand it and so you didn’t take it
But I want you to know that I encourage you
To do your best because “YOU” LOVE YOU
And I’ll always be there to take you away
When you want to hide and run away
So keep being you but don’t forget to strive
For the life you deserve; I love you my Pride

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
