night come softly

night come softly

Night come softly unto me
for my soul is weak with desire,
love has imprisoned me
it has engulfed me with its fire.

Lost I am forever
in a sea of endless pain,
for the object of my passion
has decided to refrain.

My soul is all but broken
in this plight I'm now in,
how could such beauty
ever be a sin?

But at last I must give way
to the truth that now abides,
but when the bands are broken
I will be waiting to be his bride.
