Not You
You want him, but you can’t have him. He’s mine and I’m not giving him up. Forget that you two were together, forget that he used to hug you and hold your hand. That’s over, and it’s over for good. The poor guy never realized how deep he was getting in, didn’t know how hard it would be to escape the ditch he’d gotten himself into. But I showed him the light, gave him a new direction. His eyes opened and he came… Running. My arms were wide open, ready to embrace him into my life, prepared to show him the love he deserved. Now, we’re practically inseparable, and there’s nothing you can do about it. When he says, “I love you” whose eyes does he look into? Whose neck is he nuzzling throughout the day? Whose body is he hugging? Who is he dreaming about at night? The answer to all those questions: Me. Not you. The smile on his face is there because of me, and it’s a genuine smile. We’ve planned the future and reminisced about the past. He doesn’t sit up at night wishing he’d stayed with you; he doesn’t draw pictures of you for you. You’re not a part of his life anymore, and he’s finally happy. Actually, we are happy together… SO GET OVER IT.
