Ode to the Future
Ode to the future
Oh, we can naught but rejoice,
For what the future brings.
Not even the wisest men can tell of the strange contraptions
The future will spring!
Life will be easier with new technologies.
I think it is safe to make
A prediction that pigs will fly,
Man will escape the prison of Earth,
Or even that books will become obsolete.
For what nonsense was it to the ancient
Egyptians or Romans that there will be
Flying machines and a man walking on moon.
That their Great Empires and
Great ancient traditions and even
Languages shall scatter with the dust!
Here is to the future of
Greatness and prestige!
