Poem Commentary

I was kinda going through a rough moment with my significant other....=\

Oh How Your Light Burns

I feel so cold and alone on the inside,
Fear and anger showing on the outside...
Which side will win over?
Will I forever be subject to both?

Never knowing if they will fade.
Push away the noise and welcome the silence.
Breathe the polluted air and hopefully
It will drown these dark voices.

I watch the sun rise and fall but either way
There are shadows casted everywhere.
When I turn and open my eyes,
There you are in the light.

But I can't hear you,
Your light blinds me,
And your touch fades through my own.
The shadows engulf me, dark voices deafen me, and your light,

Oh how your light burns!
Why do you let it burn me so?
What have I done so wrong,
For you to unravel such a pain?

Sorry cannot fulfill my scream-filled air,
My tears cannot be seen in the dark,
My touch fades through the night,
And I can never reach you again....
Because your light....

Oh how your light burns!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
