Outcome of income

Outcome of income

You're not the outcome of income,
You're the product of a man reaching with far more than his hands
for infinity and then some,
a man who knows you have to lose some to win some,
So fear none, go out there and win son,
Show them what you're worth with compassion and purpose
Don't worry about the flash on the surface
But never lose the fire inside 'cause in the end cash is worthless,
This world is your inheritance
The generous man never needs, he's never spread to thin
he soars on spread wings with the speed of peregrines
So give of yourself freely,
Some may try to deceive, god will discern the greed from the needy,
and God has more than one name
God is not religion, God is faith
So leap faithfully, it's ok to fear falling but don't be afraid to fly
You can't attain flight without risking a fall
thank god for every blessing in your life but never be afraid to die,
I love you son
I made you, but you make me a better man, that's what makes you mine,
you're a dreamers dream
So always remember, as long as you live, the dream you're living is mine

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
