PART OF MY HEART
Forever your smile held light in your eyes.
Whatever would come you took it in stride.
Till that day, tears fell from the sky.
Less then a year, those rings we bared
Tossed to the wind with pain and despair.
I walked out the door with hurtful pride.
Young and angry, my heart truly cried.
The fault was my own, though I blamed only you.
I could not endure a failure presumed
I wanted my freedom and you were the way
I could not admit it, upon our wedding day.
Scared and confused of what I should do
Eleven months later it came into view.
We were better off as friends, I knew from the start
So I severed the bond and I broke your heart.
Many years have since come and gone
I regret what I did and I have for so long.
But friends we were and still to this day.
And part of my heart is with you to stay.
