Pilate's Wife
Claudia’s sleep became disturbed
The very idea, completely absurd
Her husband ordered to adjudicate
Jesus of Nazareth terrible fate.
A man came to her dreams
One aware of all the schemes
This Jesus spoke of a loving God
His attitude being very odd.
Her dreams continued, no relief
She drowned slowly in a sea of grief
Her husband must not condemn
This man who meant so much to them.
She rushed a letter to her husband
Do not condemn Him my precious one
For all will suffer at His demise
I have seen this with my own eyes.
She waited for the message return
Her fear within began to burn
She must see for herself His fate
She felt the need before it was to late.
Her way was block by the crowd
Many crying, many shouting loud
Pilate’s wife pushed her way through
But there was nothing she could do.
Pilate condemned Jesus to the cross
She saw His love weeping at the loss
Running in fear she returned in gloom
Sobbing as she reached safety in her room.
For Pilate’s sin she felt such blame
But the dream to her once more came
“Father forgive, there’s nothing I can do”
“My child, I have already forgiven you.”
Pilate paid a horrible price for his deed
Taking Christ’s life without any heed,
Yet Claudia lived in bliss and love
Believing ever-after in the Lord up above.
