    pray for me

say a prayer for you, may be for two,
say a prayer for me, no matter how little.
say a prayer for those who flee when they see,
pray for those who stay and with bullet get laid.
say a prayer for the heroes past,
    and the traitors that last,
say a prayer for the priest
who lives in poverty and celibacy
pray for the ones who enjoy life like a celebrity
say a prayer for the bold who speak up loud,
and for the humble who can't face the crowd,
say a prayer for the elders who in their wisdom advise
and for the youths who in their exuberance are vise
say a prayer for the old who tomorrow you'll not see
remember the babies who in new marrows will be,
say a prayer for the weak who can't go on
and for the strong who says play on
pray for the sinner whose soul is tamed
and for the saint's life that is claimed
say a prayer fot the day that becomes dark
and for the night which refuses to be black
say a prayer for the twinkling stars of the night
and the dewy heves in the sand
say a prayer for the grass that cannot leave the earth
pray for the tree that's so high in height
say a prayer for the big, round, shining ball
pray for the moon whose light is dull
say a prayer for me and one for you
i'll say a prayer for me and for two
i'll remember you no matter how little
no matter how little, until the sky is blue.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
