"If I Could"

If I had wings I would fly over the highest mountains
If I had an imagination, I'd soar until I found all the endless possibilities
If I had the nerve to be this inner man that I am, I would touch many souls and uplift many spirits...
If I had the courage, I'd make many worldly changes
If I had a love so deep inside, I'd mend the world of broken hearts
If I had many instruments, I would play the most beautiful music
If I had many strings, I would weave a basket big enough to hold life's blessings
If I were a wishmaster; I would grant perfect peace
If I were a dreamcatcher, I would make all dreams pleasant
If I could, I would.....

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
