    "I'm Sorry For Your Loss"

    "I'm sorry for your loss", they say,
    "I know we'll miss your son."
    The throng's lined up in black, today,
    to soothe me, one-by-one.

    Last week I stood as one of them,
    while hugging Mrs. Lowe;
    "I'm sorry for your loss", I said,
    "They're empty words, I know."

    She looked at me with tear filled eyes,
    the way I'm crying, now;
    how swiftly Life, I realize,
    can push you off its brow.

    I cast a glance toward my young man
    who lies beneath a cross;
    words pierce me as they shake my hand:
    "I'm sorry for your loss."

    This is a beautiful poem. I lost my mother 7 months ago and can certainly relate to such feelings...

    I know it is painful to lose someone you love. I lost my mom. I especially really like the last verse which I find to be so true. I want you to be my friend and read my poems since I write the experiences of my life and to inspire others.

    Hi Clementine. I know that the loss of a loved one can be quite painful. It will take God and time to help in these type situations. I've lost my mother and father (which was very painful, but not a child; my oldest daughter has, which left her devastated). My prayers and heart goes out to your family and you. I would like to dedicate to you all, a poem that I have posted entitled, “Be Strong” and I hope that you can find a bit of comfort in reading it. Be forever blessed, Clementine Woods!!!

    Oh I have read a couple of your poems and they are real tear jerkers. I love your use of rhythm and the way you bring out truth in a direct manner that seems a bit subtle in it's delivery. very nice indeed

    I thank you for your comments for both the poems of mine, you read. The feedback is always helpful to me. *Angel

    When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
