    "Mom"

    Sometimes I'm angry and can't stand your ways;
    It seems all we've been doing is fighting these days.

    You don't understand me, I can't figure you out;
    We can't even talk unless we scream and shout.

    Why is it we have grown so far apart;
    When I think of it all it crushes my heart.

    We're not living up to the standards we have set;
    For mother and daughter we're not quite there yet.

    I want you to know that I love you the most;
    and wish we could get along like most other folks.

    Im willing to try to make things go right;
    And Mom, I still think you're out of sight.

    Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
