    Respect

What makes you the gate keeper of my soul?

What makes you think I'd give you control?

In time all will see as my beauty unfolds

Peeling off the layers of inadequacy

    Vulnerabilities made smooth

I am exposed down to my roots

No longer a violet that shrinks

But a blooming lily of truth

Oozing out my essence like a faucet that leaks

Engulfing the atmosphere like a river that reaks

I will rise beyond the ceiling of the sky

And grow beyond the depths of the sea

You will recognize the power within me

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
