Shapeshifter

Shapeshifter

In worlds of darkness
In worlds of light
I travel far and far
In search for my love

What form is he
I care not
What face he has
I worry none

Should he be long and thin
A serpent poisonous as can be
His coils shall surround myself
And sink his fangs upon my veins

If he be majestic and lonely
Wild and beastly as a wolf
His teeth will surely sink in me
And devour my beating heart

Perhaps he be winged and clawed
A magnificent lordly eagle
His claws may strike true
And take my life away

But if he be soft and warm
A bright eyed creature
He would never take so forcefully
The only one who is worthy.

This one throws the reader back in time with mythical creatures a nice twist through verse. There is a love I have that loves surprises too and he plays each part so well he should be in drama.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
