The Darkness
Is it strange,to think of death,
as darkness closes in?
to see it as a living thing,
until you just give in?
I felt the touch, the touch of death,
when i was but a babe.
yet something brought me back again,
to do as i was made.
people are lost and times do pass,
in this transition they call life.
i have lost and coped with much,
for i can handle strife.
if this is so then why,
why do i feel such pain.
after all that i have been through,
I ask myself "What is there to gain?"
then i think of a life,
a life that almost was.
and that is when i realized,
it is just because.
there is no written meaning,
no true purpose in our lives,
i have a strange philosophy,
one that i think wise.
we are here to populate,
and once that job is done.
we now have a new task,
care for the little one.
it is true, we live for them.
we try to raise them right,
we do what we can to teach them well,
so on their own they can fight.
so in the end i answer my own,
i know why we are here.
but with my future i entrust them,
for if they're raised right,
We have naught to fear.
