The Day The Rockets Took Flight

I can feel it in the air the excitement
Nothing not even weather could prevent
At least not two hundred years ago.
Those rockets took flight so all would know.

This would mark the day of our independence!
The chills are back as well as the pride and confidence.
Our world young struggling for freedom to this day.
I am on that ship watching as explosions find their way.

The birth; still today we are in our prime.
The world has changed so much in little time.
Even though freedom is as elusive now as then.
We have many more signs showing where to begin.
            Happy Fourth Of July!!!!!

I like this poem. It conveys so much imagery and character..

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
