The Flame

Within your life I will always be

Your grace and love sets my soul so free

With yesterday open upon my mind

My early days, I was so blind.

You loved me when I couldn’t love myself

You gave me you, a rich treasure of wealth

But addiction and selfishness kept me far away

When all you wanted was for me to stay

So I ran away in a search for love

I asked myself and begged God above

To give me freedom from this terrible curse

My life was wrong and grew oh so worse.

And then one day I saw the light

It gave me strength, allowed me to fight

To the truth within, within my very being

My love for you is what was finally seen

Deep within my mind, within my very soul

Beyond the cheap façade that was black as coal

Beyond the hate and error that drove my life

Beyond the selfishness that caused pain and strife

Beyond the very depth within the inner me

There is a flame that set my life so free

That flame is the love that I have for you

You created the spark that was love so true

You complete my life, you make me whole

You gave me, me, you saved my soul

So within that flame started long ago

Is a love so true, to you I will show……
