    The Journey Of the Desert

There are moments I just Am
    In awe of the beauty
    At peace
My heart is filled with love; with compassion
No sorrow lingers in me; no regrets; nor fear
There are moments I must push, rush
I have an urgent need to journey faster
    In these moments
    I fall, I flounder
    Emptiness fills me
Fear and dread seep inside me
    Hopelessness is my companion
In moments of haste, I lose ground
In times of distress I rage with fear
No future, no joy awaits me
Emptiness, and sorrow line my heart
Past woe's resurface, keeping me company
    To cross this desolate desert
I must take the journey alone
For there is no one else to walk in my footsteps
No one to walk beside me that I may share my weary heart with
Nor to be offered a tight embrace by
To find the peace I search for
    The desert is my journey
I must first cross the vastness of loneliness; of nothingness
To reach The Water; The Sweetness; Life
    To once again just Be

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
